University energy leaders talk savings at UC Davis
On Sept 15, the Energy Conservation Office (ECO) held the first UC-wide Energy Summit UC Davis. The summit allowed energy managers from campuses throughout North America to network and share ideas, innovations and strategies to improve energy efficiency in campus buildings.

Due to pre-existing back injuries, David Epling could barely lift himself up from the ground after painting baseboards on campus without holding onto something. Since 2009, he said he was “13 percent disabled” and his muscle tendons had shrunk due to underuse.
As a Sustainable Environmental Design major, Nguyen Nguyen is passionate about implementing sustainable and beautiful landscape throughout campus. Through the UC Davis Arboretum’s Learning By Leading program, Nguyen is able to pass down his knowledge and experiences to fellow students by leading lawn conversion projects on campus.
