Looking for a fun way to enjoy the sunshine and give back to the community? In an effort to increase access to fresh food for those in need, UC Davis students are hosting a community harvest of student-grown crops for donation to the Yolo Food Bank Friday, June 10 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Due to pre-existing back injuries, David Epling could barely lift himself up from the ground after painting baseboards on campus without holding onto something. Since 2009, he said he was “13 percent disabled” and his muscle tendons had shrunk due to underuse.
As a Sustainable Environmental Design major, Nguyen Nguyen is passionate about implementing sustainable and beautiful landscape throughout campus. Through the UC Davis Arboretum’s Learning By Leading program, Nguyen is able to pass down his knowledge and experiences to fellow students by leading lawn conversion projects on campus.
“My job allows me to meet so many campus and public people and provides an opportunity to visit different locations on campus. On top of all that I get to be involved with supporting sustainability at UC Davis!”
At UC Davis, students and researchers are not the only ones encouraged to explore and pioneer creative innovation. In fact, UC Davis employees continually discover unique solutions to campus problems every day, such as fashioning a bike pump to withstand a university of over 15,000 cyclists.
