Julie Nola named Interim Associate Vice Chancellor of DCM

Dear Colleagues,

As you know, Jim Carroll is leaving UC Davis end of today (July 12, 2024).  We thank him for his creativity, impact, and leadership over the past six years.

Effective immediately, I have appointed Julie Nola as Interim Associate Vice Chancellor of Design and Construction Management (DCM) and University Architect.

Julie Nola

Julie is a California-licensed architect and a graduate of UC Davis with a BS in Interior Architecture and Business Management.  She has more than 30 years of planning, design, and project management experience, and has been serving in leadership roles within DCM since 2010!

Julie has been responsible for the major and minor capital projects teams managing over $1 billion in projects during her leadership. On campus, you have seen many of her recent and award-winning projects including the Teaching & Learning Complex (LEED Platinum, DBIA Distinction and Design Excellence), Walker Hall Graduate Student Center (LEED Platinum, AIA National Design Excellence) and the Manetti Shrem Museum of Art (LEED Platinum, over 10 awards including Best Architecture from LA Times and WSJ).

Julie is an active member of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) and the owner’s chair of the regional chapter of Design-Build Institute of American (DBIA).

While a national recruitment has been launched that will hopefully conclude before the end of the calendar year 2024, DCM is very fortunate to have Julie leading the organization with her exceptional professionalism, skills, and experience. I look forward to working closely with Julie and moving DCM’s many projects and vision forward.
