FOA’s Role in the Upcoming Accreditation Visit
Dear FOA Team,
It seems like every week UC Davis is topping charts and making headlines for all the right reasons. Whether it’s surpassing $1 billion in research awards (again!) or securing a spot as the No. 3 public university by the Wall Street Journal, our university continues to shine brightly.
We’re now preparing for another significant milestone – the reaffirmation of our accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges’ Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Every 10 years we have the opportunity to showcase our transformative achievements. You might see the WSCUC team on campus this late October or early November. If possible, I encourage you to watch the accreditation video then join a session and share your experiences with them.
You might wonder about FOA’s role to support this process. First, members of FOA’s Budget and Institutional Analysis (BIA) team have been on the Steering Committee preparing for this visit for over a year. Admin IT was tapped to help support this process as well. The collective team has been busy managing logistics, as well as gathering and analyzing required data and assisting in developing the report submitted to the WSCUC team. The report included data and analysis related to enrollment, faculty workload, and student success.
Many other FOA units contribute to this reaffirmation. For example, our faculty and researchers, and the students they teach, rely on effective classrooms and labs, which FOA builds and cares for. Our FOA teams are working hard to create a safe, clean, and beautiful campus, advance sustainability, and ensure plentiful and affordable campus housing. A large number of FOA staff support our growing academic and research needs. This includes everything from competitive procurement, delivery of equipment, and financial and systems support.
While, of course, we wish we had unlimited resources to make all parts of our campus shiny and bright, we do a lot with what we have. I extend my gratitude to all of you for making me, and all of our leaders, proud of UC Davis.
Clare
