New FOA Vice Chancellor Clare Shinnerl

Meet FOA’s New Vice Chancellor

All FOA employees are invited to an evening reception to meet our new division leader, Vice Chancellor Clare Shinnerl. This in-person reception will happen during Shinnerl’s first week at UC Davis.

The event will include a brief introduction of Shinnerl, followed by a chance for FOA staff members to meet her and mingle with each other. Light food and beverages will be served.

Shinnerl’s path to UC Davis

In June, Chancellor Gary S. May announced Shinnerl had been selected to lead FOA after a months-long national search.

Her official first day working for UC Davis is Aug. 15, and FOA’s 13 units are each scheduled to meet with her in the coming weeks for additional introductions to their teams and accomplishments. An online FOA All-Staff Meeting will also be scheduled soon.

Shinnerl most recently worked for UC San Francisco’s Campus Life Services, as senior associate vice chancellor. She has more than 20 years’ experience as an executive leader, including leadership positions at the Pacific Business Group on Health, Stanford University’s School of Engineering and the University of Southern California. She holds a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.B.A. from the University of Redlands and a bachelor’s degree from UC San Diego.

Shinnerl fills the FOA vice chancellor role that was vacated by Kelly Ratliff, who retired in May after 35 years of service to the campus. In the interim, Eric Kvigne, associate vice chancellor of Safety Services, and Christine Lovely, associate vice chancellor and chief human resources officer, have shared the service of interim FOA leaders.
