Interim FOA leaders appointed
Chancellor announced Christine Lovely and Eric Kvigne to take on interim leadership
University of California, Davis, Chancellor Gary S. May announced that he has appointed two campus leaders to provide interim leadership for Finance, Operations and Administration, or FOA, once Vice Chancellor Kelly Ratliff retires next month after 35 years with the university, and until the new FOA vice chancellor is in place.
A national search for the next vice chancellor is underway, and May expects to have that person on board prior to the start of the 2022-23 academic year.
Effective May 15, Christine Lovely will have interim responsibility for budget and institutional analysis, finance, university resources, human resources, and administrative IT and business transformation. Eric Kvigne will have interim responsibility for campus planning, design and construction management, facilities, safety services, the campus police and fire departments, and animal care. “FOA is in a very stable place, thanks to Kelly’s solid stewardship, and the leadership team she put in place there is excellent,” May said. “I’m grateful to Christine and Eric for stepping into such crucial interim roles that impact how well the entire campus functions every day.”
Lovely is currently the chief human resources officer and has been with UC Davis since 2018. Previously she served as vice president of human resources for California State University, Sacramento.
Kvigne is currently associate vice chancellor for Safety Services and joined UC Davis in 2010. Previously he worked in the insurance industry, leading western U.S. operations for a third-party administrator.
FOA comprises 1,500 employees in 13 units. The division has played a key role in managing Healthy Davis Together, a partnership between UC Davis, the city of Davis and Yolo County.
