Teresa is an analyst for Budget & Institutional Analysis.

When did you join the university?
September 11, 2001 was my first day at work.

What's your day-to-day role in stewarding university resources?
In my capacity as an analyst in BIA, I serve as the Campus Fee Coordinator. I work closely with other staff members in BIA, Student Affairs (Registrar's Office and Financial Aid, Student Accounting), as well as UCOP and serve as the point of contact on fee inquiries from various campus units.  I also serve as policy expert and BIA representative, providing staff support to the Course Materials Fee Committee.  On the Institutional Analysis side of BIA, I am the primary staff support for the Data Editing System for Instructional Information for the campus.  The Davis campus commits a substantial portion of its financial and human resources each year to providing high quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The ability to analyze instructional activity allows institutions to monitor and assess its instructional quality. The Data Editing System for Instructional Information (DESII) is an important tool that helps the campus by providing the means for systematic collection of key instructional data.

“Being a part of an institution that is providing education to the next generation is invaluable.”

What's an example of how you delight customers?
A lot of what I do is to provide analytical support to others so that they can do their jobs.  There is not one example, as my objective is to always to ensure that folks get quality work from me whether I am providing them data, guidance on policies or procedures, or just serving as a liaison between units for fee related projects.  My approach is not unique but it is effective.  I believe that it is always important to have strong communication and always collaborate with others to get things done.

What do you like best about working at UC Davis?
The best part I like about working at UC Davis is having the opportunity to work with bright colleagues, faculty and students. I have always wanted to work in the education sector. Not only does our work matter, but being a part of an institution that is providing education to the next generation is invaluable.  And the work-life balance at UCD is wonderful and very important to me.  During my career at UCD, I have been very fortunate to have leadership who support family life, healthy work environment and quality work.

What's the most challenging part of your job?
The most challenging part of my job is the attention the detail that is required when working with student fees, but at the same time -- my job is a good fit for my skills, because attention to detail is one of my strongest strength.  I find my work enjoyable.

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people wouldn't know.
I am an artist/photographer.

What's something you like to do when you aren't at work?
When I am not at work, I am very involved with my kids sports and activities and spending time with my husband.
