Associate Vice Chancellor
As Associate Vice Chancellor of Facilities Management for the last eight years, Allen’s focus on technology and training solutions combined with improving employee and customer engagement, has transformed the organization to better support the strengthening of our university’s research infrastructure while tackling its $1 billion deferred maintenance backlog. As the leader of the second largest facilities portfolio in the UC system, the 575 employees in Tollefsons’s organization support the maintenance, custodial, utilities, energy management, customer service and purchasing needs related to the operation of 14.6 million square feet across 1,700 buildings.
Prior to his 18-year career at UC Davis, Tollefson studied construction management at San Jose State University, earned his real estate license and worked in commercial and residential real estate where he gained a reputation for delivering high-quality renewal projects in less time and for less money. Today, Tollefson’s accolades include achievement awards for outstanding affirmative action and diversity efforts, collaboration and sustainability best practices.
