Looking for a fun way to enjoy the sunshine and give back to the community? In an effort to increase access to fresh food for those in need, UC Davis students are hosting a community harvest of student-grown crops for donation to the Yolo Food Bank Friday, June 10 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Due to pre-existing back injuries, David Epling could barely lift himself up from the ground after painting baseboards on campus without holding onto something. Since 2009, he said he was “13 percent disabled” and his muscle tendons had shrunk due to underuse.

As a Sustainable Environmental Design major, Nguyen Nguyen is passionate about implementing sustainable and beautiful landscape throughout campus. Through the UC Davis Arboretum’s Learning By Leading program, Nguyen is able to pass down his knowledge and experiences to fellow students by leading lawn conversion projects on campus.
