Campus Security Standards Implementation

Background

Of critical importance to UC Davis, is providing its faculty, staff and students a safe and secure environment in which to work and study. In late 2015, the Campus Security Standards Committee (CSSC) was formed to develop standards and centralized controls for electronic security systems in select campus facilities. The CSSC released the UC Davis Security Integration Plan in 2016, which recommends the campus invest in a single, centralized and standardized platform for door access control, video devices and intrusion/security alarm systems across campus. In July of 2016, Acting Provost Kenneth Burtis, formed a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Campus Security Standards Implementation Project

The PAC's Charge

Members were asked to deliver a detailed implementation plan that includes the following:

  • Detailed project programming.
  • Refined capital and operating budget parameters.
  • Opportunities to coordinate security improvements with all ongoing and future capital projects in the targeted facilities.
  • Realistic annual implementation targets.
  • Outreach/communication strategy that informs stakeholders and the broader campus community.
